PSL spot-fixing case: Shahzaib Hasan case hearing adjourned

Fixing is one of the biggest blots on the game of cricket. It has often shaken the cricketing world. Pakistani cricketers over the years have been found guilty of match-fixing through different ways. Pakistan’s seam bowler Mohammed Amir spent time in jail as well when he was punished for his involvement in the match-fixing.

Pakistan had started their own T20 League, Pakistan Super League, which was a massive hit and now Pakistan is trying to bring the cricket back to their nation with the help of the PSL. During the second edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Five players were booked for their involvement in a spot-fixing.

Sharjeel Khan along with Pakistan teammate Khalid Latif was handed a five-year ban after the Pakistan cricket’s anti-corruption tribunal found both of them guilty.Mohammad Irfan, Shahzaib Hasan, Nasir Jamshed and Mohammad Nawaz were other players who were banned on the basis of multiple charges against them.

Shahzaib Hasan’s case was pending and the hearing was due today. He was suspended for his alleged involvement in the spot-fixing saga along with the other players. Hasan has represented the national side in three one-day games and 10 T20Is. Pakistan seamer Mohammed Irfan was set to appear before PCB’s anti-corruption tribunal as a witness against the batsman. Hasan’s counsel did not appear before the court and hence the court had to adjourn the hearing.

Mohammed Irfan too was suspended for one year for his failure to report the ongoing problems. Although Irfan along with Mohammad Nawaz did not accept any offers from the bookies.

Recently, in a talk show, Indian skipper Virat Kohli had named the left-arm pacer one of the toughest bowlers he has faced. Irfan has represented Pakistan in 60 ODIs, 4 Tests and 20 T20I games. 35-year-old Irfan returned to the domestic cricket after his punishment was over in the month of September.
