While Team India was entertaining us on the cricket field, a certain Indian was winning it on the badminton court. PV Sindhu set her record straight against Japan’s Nizomi Okuhara who had the better of her in the BWF World Championship, by winning the Korean Superseries Open 22-20, 11-21, 21-18. It is clear now that success and PV Sindhu go hand-in-hand as she is rewriting history with remarkable performances across the globe.

After their face off in the World Championship, the Rio Olympic bronze medallist Okuhara, 22, had taken a 4-3 lead in career meetings against the Rio Olympic silver medallist, Sindhu. But in the South Korean capital, Sindhu was presented a chance to avenge the Glasgow loss –and the Indian came out victorious.

At just 22, she is the first Indian to win an Olympic Silver, first Indian to win at Worlds thrice, to have three Super Series title, and the first Indian to win in Korea. Former India batsman Virender Sehwag was quick to congratulate Sindhu after her impressive victory. He is known to be very active on social media and likes to tweet about trending issues, on birthdays and Indian team’s performances.

Even though he was busy with commentary ahead of the India vs Australia 1st ODI, he made sure there was an exclusive wish for her on his Twitter handle. He tweeted, “At 22 Pusarla Venkata Sindhu is a legend. What a player ! Congratulations on this stunning finals win. Most breathtaking badminton @Pvsindhu1”

She also replied to Sehwag from Korea, thanking him for his wishes in an equally special manner with a cricket reference.  She said, “Sir

Bowled by your yorker!!??but very inspiring indeed ? Will remember always to excell in my career!?”

Have a look at the tweet:

Among those who conveyed their wishes to her were Sachin Tendulkar, PM Narendra Modi, Amitabh Bachchan, boxer Vijender Singh, Sports Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore and former Sports Minister Vijay Goel.
