Former Indian captain, Rahul Dravid is the coach of the India U19 and India A teams among the many roles he could have chosen, the legend opted for probably the lesser glorified yet valuable role. He was given the option of coaching the Indian senior team but he opted for the juniors as he wants to mold the future of Indian cricket. From the time he made his debut he has shown traits of working hard and earning everything he wanted.

He earned his spot in the team, most runs he scored came under testing circumstances and this attribute was pretty evidently on display when Dravid denied an honorary doctorate degree offered by the Bangalore University very recently. has scored over 10 thousand Test runs and is one of the very few batsmen who did that.

The 44-year-old’s wife who is also a surgeon has earned the degree after studying for seven long years. Even his mother has a Ph.D. and she earned a doctorate with her research. And this is the reason, Dravid declined the degree with all the humility, stating that he would rather earn it through a research and by studying the subject.

The Indian legend explaining the same said: “The thing about the doctorate is that my mom did her Ph.D. and earned a doctorate at the age of 55. My wife’s a surgeon who studied seven years to get a degree in surgery. And I’ve always felt that if it was something I wanted, I would like to have earned it. I don’t mean that anyone else should have that feeling and I’m not trying to belittle anyone else. It’s just that I felt that way, because of my own experiences.”

That is what you call finesse. May it be on the field while striking the ball or be it off the field while rejecting a doctorate, the wall will always work with elegance and charm.
