Rajasthan Royals were banned for two years from the Indian Premier League after their owner Raj Kundra and some of the players were found guilty of betting and match fixing respectively. The ban will be completed after the completion of the ongoing season and Royals are looking to come back to the league in 2018.

However, another controversy has struck and this time it has something to do with the sponsorship deal they cracked six years ago. In 2011, Rajasthan Royals jersey sponsor Floriana, a Delhi-based cosmetic company is been under CBI inquiry for major frauds worth of hundreds of crores of rupees.

As they were sponsors of Rajasthan Royals in 2011, Central Bureau of Investigation has sent a notice to the Mumbai office of the IPL side. The officials of RR, however, have refused to accept that it was a notice from CBI and have claimed that it is more of an inquiry about the company.

An official close to the IPL franchise told Mumbai mirror about the same. “It is not exactly a notice. It was an inquiry sort of thing and we’ve replied to them immediately. We did not know what actually was the background of the company when we had signed them and we have found out about them (Floriana) only recently,” said the official while clearing the air.

The official disclosed that even now the IPL franchise is yet to receive the full payment from Floriana. “We have not yet received full payment from them,” revealed the official.

The IPL side wants to come back without any controversy and wants to maintain a clean record from here on. The same was stated by the official when he mentioned that everyone attached to the company was contacted by CBI and it is just another inquiry and nothing else.

He also added that the team the team is done with controversy and wants to return to the league with a bang. “We’re done with all the controversy and we want to return to the IPL in a big way,” he said.
