Ranji Trophy 2016-17 final to be played in Indore from January 10th

The Holkar Stadium in Indore will host the final of the Ranji Trophy 2016-17, something that is expected to be a spectacle in its own right. Initially, the final was scheduled to take place on the on the 12th of January, but the date as brought forward to the 10th given the hectic international schedule on the cards.
Karnataka will take on Tamil Nadu in what is expected to be an all South Zone affair. Even the venue is south given the fact that the match would be played at the ADAVCA Stadium in Vizag. This will be a blockbuster of an encounter given the fact that these two sides have been consistently making it to the finals of the tournament.
Karnataka have been crowned champion twice in recent years, something that makes them clear favourites in the current edition despite the fact that they are denuded a few players in recent times. Raipur will host the all-important encounter between defending champions Mumbai and Hyderabad.
Aditya Tare and his band of merry men have been on an unprecedented run of form of late given the fact that the have been consistently winning matches of late. The Sawaiman Singh Stadium in Jaipur will witness the class between Gujarat and Odisha while Haryana will take on Jharkhand at Baroda.
Both semi-finals will be played on the same days at both Rajkot and Nagpur respectively before the victors play the final in Indore. The Holkar Stadium was inaugurated as a Test match venue earlier when the Indians played host to New Zealand. Even Rajkot was inaugurated as a Test match venue during the ongoing England series.

Quarter-finals (December 23-27):
Mumbai vs Hyderabad – Raipur
Tamil Nadu vs Karnataka – Visakhapatnam
Gujarat vs Odisha – Jaipur
Haryana vs Jharkhand – Baroda
Semifinals (January 1-4):
1st semifinal – Rajkot
2nd semifinal – Nagpur
Final (January 10-14): Indore
