The 7th round of the Ranji trophy 2016-17 kick-started yesterday in a fantastic fashion. The day belonged to the Baroda team who registered a clinical win over Bengal inside 2 days. The day saw a keen battle between the bat and the ball. Atit Sheth followed up his fiery spell of 7/36 in the first innings with another good performance in the second.
He bagged 3/58 to complete the 10-wicket haul for the match. Bengal bundled out for just 133 while chasing 155 for the win. Playing against Kerala, Vijaykumar bagged 6/47 to help his side Andhra be in a firm position. Goa batsman Kauthankar hit a brilliant 225 to take his side to 413 against Haryana. Haryana in response did well to end the day with 110 for no loss.
Chhattisgarh’s PK Rao bagged 5/89 to restrict Hyderabad to 351. Chhattisgarh looked solid at 124/1 in response. Maharashtra batsmen have been ruling the game thus far. They piled up 542 against the hapless Assam line up. After skipper Kedar Jadhav’s century yesterday, Chirag Khurana hit a century today.
MP bowler A Sharma also had a five-for to his name against Railways. He finished with figures of 6/108 as Railways piled up 371 riding on Bhille’s 102. Gujarat’s P Panchal hit a scintillating 232 to take Gujarat to 437 against the mighty Mumbai. Dabholkar bagged 6/118 from the Mumbai’s side.
