A couple of attention-grabbing bowling performances and few solid batting displays made up for the highlights of the action that unfolded on day three in the round 7 of the Ranji Trophy 2016/17. Middle order man Rohan Prem struck a fine 89 to help Kerala extend their lead to 222 and set themselves in a great position against Andhra. Punjab, backed by Manpreet Grewal’s 4/81 were able to fold up Tamil Nadu for 354 and batted pretty steadily in response to built a 51 run lead by the end of the day.

Karnataka produced a much better batting performance in the third innings after restricting Odisha for 342 in the second innings. CM Gautam was yet again the core of all the batting action and remained unbeaten on 68. Anupam Sanklecha, the 34-year-old domestic veteran from Maharastra, produced the most commendable individual performance of the day, snapping 8/73 against Assam. The team continued their good work looked on the verge of bowling out Assam for another cheap score. Assam could not withstand the combined bowling effort from the opposition and was reeling at 115/6, trailing by 171 runs and staring at an innings defeat.
