9. Sri Lanka – 2019 World Cup
Sri Lankan cricket has been enduring a tough time ever since greats like Mahela Jayawardene, Kumar Sangakkara, and Tillakaratne Dilshan bid farewell to international cricket. Their campaign in the 2019 World Cup was also not pleasant. They won just three of their nine league stage games and got knocked out of the tournament.
While their players couldn’t do much in the marquee competition, Sri Lanka’s jersey left many fans amused. The kit features turtle-like figures instead of the more familiar lion. Also, the colours include light yellow and blue besides their original dark blue shed. The composition of different primary colours was indeed subtle and not overpowering.
Moreover, the kit was made up of recycled ocean plastic which generated a lot of positive vibes. Fans from all over the world congratulated SLC for their brilliant initiative to make the national cricketers wear a green kit. However, a good campaign in the tournament would have been a cherry on the cake for Sri Lankan fans.
