Ravi Ashwin polished off the first ODI between India and England at Pune with a massive six over the long-off fence as the Indians went ahead and claimed an impressive four-wicket win in the first ODI. However, what was even better was the fact that there was a bit of Mahendra Singh Dhoni in the manner in which Ashwin struck the ball to the fence.

The former Indian skipper has been quite famous for finishing off matches with some terrific batting including that six in the 2011 edition of the World Cup that saw him smash Nuwan Kulasekara way back into the stands.

While Ashwin did the similar thing in the international stadium in Pune, it was simply the manner in which the Indians went about chasing the mammoth total of 350, something that was impressive, to say the least.

Virat Kohli slammed an audacious 122 while he was joined in his crusade by Kedar Jadhav who also let the anchor weigh down on the morning session, something that eventually led the Indians to victory.

Tendulkar impressed with Indian performance

Sachin Tendulkar, perhaps the living legend of world cricket at the moment went on to tweet his congratulations to the Indian cricket team following their win over England. This not only kicks off the new year as India’s first win in the year but also the first win for the newly incumbent skipper Virat Kohli.

Tendulkar was also impressed with Kedar Jadhav who helped himself to a century as well.

“First win for 2017! Well done Team India, this is an amazing start to the year. Keep winning,” was Tendulkar’s first tweet

“Virat Kohli and Kedar Jadhav changed the momentum brilliantly & put the pressure back on Eng by playing some spectacular shots,” he said in his tweet.
