Ahead of the clash with New Zealand, the Indian team management might need to put their thinking hats on for making a few tweaks in the side. After the team’s dismaying performance against Pakistan, there are speculations that they might make certain changes to their side. The former Australian cricketer Brett Lee has thus come forward with his suggestion on India’s team combination.
In the game against Pakistan, India went with the spin duo of Jadeja and Varun Chakravarthy. Brett Lee, however, feels that considering the plethora of experience Ravi Ashwin has under his sleeves, the team should think of including him in the upcoming fixture.
Though the off-spinner last played a T20I game back in 2017, he is one of the most experienced campaigners in the team. The former Australian pacer also added that Ashwin has a lot to offer to the team.
“If you are after an angle about Ashwin, he is first and foremost a wonderful cricketer. I am a big fan and he has got a lot to offer, he is very very experienced. He is a great leader and of course, he can play every single game. They (team management) chose not to play him and that is on them. But whether he should be in the XI is up to the selectors and captain to make a call,” Brett Lee said as quoted by Times Now.
I am really impressed with the Kiwis: Brett Lee
This match will be crucial for both India and New Zealand. Both the teams have lost their previous encounters to Pakistan and will be raring to get to the winning ways. According to the former cricketer, the Kane Williamson-led side is a strong team and has players who can dominate the proceedings at any given time.
“The Kiwis have got an amazing structure and some beautiful players that swing the ball at the top of the order to get one, two, three batsmen out, they got guys at the top of the order who can dominate, they got guys who can hit through the middle period and they have good death bowlers, so I am really impressed with the Kiwis,” Brett Lee added.
