Ace India spinner Ravi Ashwin has made it a habit to be in the news. The off-spinner recently bagged the top two honors at the ICC Awards 2016. He was named the Garfield Sobers Cricketer of the Year and also the ICC Test Cricketer of the Year. To add a little more to his achievements, the Tamil Nadu lad is set to finish the year of 2016 as the number one ranked spinner in the ICC Test Rankings. Now, after a long series against England, the off-spinner has finally got a break from the game.

However, one cannot keep him away from cricket. His domestic side, Tamil Nadu, is up against Karnataka in the quarterfinals of the Ranji Trophy 2016-17 at Vishakhapatnam. The big South Indian derby kickstarted on 23 December. It seems that R Ashwin and Karnataka batsman Karun Nair are having a bit of a secret dressing room healthy banter.

Ashwin was seen tweeting to Karun Nair with updates of the game. While Ashwin had to miss out on playing the game, his India teammates Karun Nair and KL Rahul featured in the Ranji encounter. R Ashwin was quick to tweet and take a dig at Karun when Tamil Nadu bowlers were all over Karnataka batsmen on day 1.

Karnataka bundled out for a paltry 88 in 37.1 overs. Aswin Crist’s 6/31 was the wrecker-in-chief for Tamil Nadu. The two big guns of Karnataka failed miserably. Opener KL Rahul could score just 4 before heading back to the dressing room. It was then that Ashwin took to Twitter to tease Karun Nair for a disappointing start to Karnataka batting.

He wrote, “@karun126 enna thambi Karnataka lost the toss.4 for 1 KL back in the hut.I will connect with you like I promised after the game.”

Later, even Karun could score just 14 in the innings. It will be interesting to see how things fare up in the days to come. More importantly, the fans await the reply of Karun Nair for the tweet war.
