Ravi Ashwin wins the ‘Man of the Watch’ award from Netflix for their funny banter

There’s no doubt in the fact that Ravi Ashwin is amongst the greatest spinners India have ever produced. On tracks that offer a fair amount of turn for the spinners, Ashwin is tough to get away. Though his overseas numbers are quite as impressive, he still remains as one of the key components in the Indian Test team. Back in 2017, he lost his place from the national team in ODIs and T20Is.

Of late, he hasn’t had much to do as the Indian pace quartet of Mohammed Shami, Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Ishant Sharma have set the cat amongst the pigeons in the opposition camp. In the last three Tests, Bumrah didn’t play, but Umesh, Ishant and Shami ran through the Bangladesh and South Africa batting unit. Ashwin last played in the first Test against the Tigers at the Holkar Stadium.

In Indore, the tweaker picked up five wickets and also kept a check on the runs. He lent apt support to the Indian fast bowlers. The spinner is now set to be a part of the historic Day-Night Test match at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata. While the leather swung around as per the players, it’s not yet known how much help Ravi Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja would extract from the talked about pink-ball.

Ashwin engages in the hilarious banter with Netflix

Recently, he picked up 250 Test wickets in the opening Test against Mominul Haque’s Bangladesh. In the meantime, he had a funny conversation with Netflix. After watching a show named ‘Instant Hostels’, Ashwin couldn’t hold himself back and expressed his delight on Twitter. The off-spinner took to Twitter and wrote, “Instant hotels show on Netflix is a real addiction. #downtime,”

Netflix didn’t take time in lauding Ashwin for his suggestion. Netflix reverted to the Tamil Nadu spinner and wrote “Ashwin’s fantastic suggestion has won him today’s Man of the Watch award,”

Ashwin didn’t die wondering and reverted with an even more humorous post. He wrote, “Look forward to the presentation ceremony.” Over the course of his career, Ashwin has attended a number of presentation ceremonies after bagging the Player of the Match and Player of the Series award.
