Ravi Shastri becomes a meme material despite India's Asia Cup victory

India didn’t have an auspicious outing in the Test series against England. They lost four out of the five matches and were a recipient of severe criticism. Their head coach Ravi Shastri was also severely bashed and his role in the team was also questioned. Moreover, a number of the experts also lashed out at the former member of the Indian World Cup-winnings squad.

During the tour, India gave the Brits a run for their money on most instances, but eventually, the Three Lions came out trumps. Shastri also said that the current Indian Test team has been the best touring teams in the last 10-15 years. Subsequently, people called for his ouster from the role of the head coach. However, his fortunes started turned in the 2018 Asia Cup.

Fans keep taking a dig at Shastri

The Men in Blue recently won the 50-overs tournament for the seventh time, beating Mashrafe Mortaza’s Bangladesh in the final by three wickets. The match wasn’t an easy going one for India by any stretch of the imagination as it went right down to the last delivery and only needed a calm head from Kedar Jadhav and Ravindra Jadeja to take India over the line.

India started their campaign with a victory against Hong Kong in Dubai and then went on to roll over arch-rivals Pakistan by eight wickets at the same venue. The Men in Blue carried over their impressive form in the Super 4 as well. First Rohit Sharma’s men rolled over Bangladesh and then humbled Sarfraz Ahmed and Co for the second time after which they tied against Afghanistan.

In the meantime, despite, Ravi Shastri’s decent show as the coach in the multi-nation tournament, the supporters haven’t left any stone unturned in trolling Shastri. Recently, the Indian head coach became a butt of jokes in the social media. A number of memes are doing the rounds surrounding him.
