Ravi Shastri goofs up in MI v SRH post match presentation ceremony
Shastri almost forgot to give away the Man of the Match award to Mumbai's speedster Jasprit Bumrah.
A familiar voice in the commentary box, Ravi Shastri is always present in the thick of things, especially when it comes to the Indian Premier League. Shastri however, who’s had many an occasion to host the post-match presentation across 9 seasons of the IPL, made a blunder in last night’s presentation ceremony.
Following Mumbai Indians’ easy victory over defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad, Ravi Shastri was once again given the honour of managing proceedings at the post-match presentation. Nevertheless, Shastri almost forgot to give away the Man of the Match award to Mumbai’s speedster Jasprit Bumrah.
Bumrah was adjudged the Man of the Match for his fabulous bowling performance in the first innings. His figures of 3-24 ensured that the batting-heavy Hyderabad side didn’t put up a big total on the board. However, the right-arm pacer thought his Man of the Match cheque had slipped out of his hands, thanks to Ravi Shastri’s minor goof-up.
Shastri handed back to the studio before he had announced the Man of the Match. The guests at the studio were of course quite surprised. England’s Kevin Pietersen latched onto the opportunity to poke fun of Shastri and was quick to tweet, “Wahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha – @RaviShastriOfc! Tough gig with that mic and all those notes? 1st bus?”

However, the studio went back to the field and made sure things were concluded as planned. Bumrah breathed a sigh of relief as he lay his hands on that MOM cheque.
Ravi Shastri laughed off the incident and replied to Pietersen’s tweet with, “hahahaha Works well sometimes. You have plenty to laugh about at the end of a long day.”

It seems Ravi Shastri was more focused on running through that presentation ceremony ‘like a tracer bullet’, and in doing so, forgot that the main award of the night had been missed out.
