Ravi Shastri to be the interim coach of team India for the tour of Bangladesh: Reports: Ravi Shastri the voice of Indian cricket is now donning a new role as team India’s coach for the upcoming tour to Bangladesh. Shastri is a World Cup winner and has played 80 tests and 150 ODI’s for India.
Ravi who until the world cup held the position of the Director of team India has now been escalated to the Head Coach’s position, since former Coach Duncan Fletcher’s contract expired following the World Cup 2015 and the board failed to appoint a replacement in the meantime. His presence in the dressing room can make a huge difference as he is an incredible motivator and an extremely positive person.
India will now play a test and three One Day Internationals against Bangladesh that starts from June 10. Shastri was one of the main reasons why India reached the semi finals of the recently concluded cricket world cup. The news of Shastri’s appointment comes in as Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly and VVS Laxman have been roped in by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to be part of the advisory committee. The trio will have a meeting with BCCI President Jagmohan Dalmiya and secretary Anurag Thakur on June 4 and 5 to discuss further strategies including appointment of a new coach and support staff.
With Ravi as the head Coach, Assistant Coach Sanjay Bangar, Bharat Arun and R Sridhar will continue as assistant coaches till the committee renews their tenure or appoints a new set of support staff for the team.
