Renowned commentator and former Indian all-rounder Ravi Shastri is known for his outspoken, charismatic analysis of the game. The flamboyant man has been the voice behind many historical moments, some of which are- Yuvraj Singh’s six sixes against England during the 2007 World T20I, India’s 2011 World Cup winning moment and much more.

On Sunday, Shastri had a rare goof up while hosting the after match presentation. He interviewed England all-rounder Ben Stokes who received the man of the match award after the visitors sealed a 5-run win in the 3rd and final ODI at Kolkata. “What was going through your mind when that ball went up in the last over, coming towards you?” Ravi asked.

Incidentally, Shastri was referring to the fifth ball of the 50th over of Indian innings when middle order batsman Kedar Jadhav lofted a Chris Woakes’ delivery on the off-side and got caught, leaving the hosts with six runs to get from one ball, which they finally didn’t manage.

Stokes was quick to correct Shastri, “Ah, it wasn’t me, it was actually Sam Billings,” he said. But the damage was done, as fans took over social media sites to have a go at Shastri. All-rounder Stokes smashed a 39-ball unbeaten 57 with the bat during the 3rd ODI before picking up the wickets of in-form Indian skipper Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya and Ravi Ashwin. India won the series 2-1 while England registered their first win of the India tour.

Here are some tweets taking a dig at Shastri:

Shastri was earlier in the news over his feud with former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly. Recently, Shastri praised MS Dhoni, after the Ranchi man stepped down from limited over’s captaincy. Ravi said, “My salaam to a dada captain”.

He did not stop there, he said Mahendra Singh Dhoni was “easily India’s most successful captain” and named Kapil Dev, Ajit Wadekar and Mansoor Ali Khan as the only other cricketers worth terming as successful Indians captains. It was certainly a shot taken at Ganguly, but the prince of Kolkata didn’t respond to the jibe.
