Ravindra Jadeja once considered to be an absolute waste of a talent has now emerged as India’s hero in the Test series against Australia at home. The Indians have finally found a match-winner in the form of Ravindra Jadeja.

M S Dhoni was heavily criticised by the Indian media regarding the selection of Jadeja, with claims of Chennai Super Kings as the reason for Jadeja’s inclusion. Under Virat Kohli though, the Saurashtra bowler has reinvented himself with his tight-line bowling and a whirlwind batting.

Anil Kumble was perhaps the happiest of the lot with Jadeja’s fine form. Jadeja missed out on a deserved man of the match award for the third Test at Ranchi. Jadeja probably was the best spinner on the Ranchi pitch with each of his delivery probing the Australian batsmen.

It was his batting and bowling which helped India cross 600 in the batting, and his five wickets in the first innings helped India close out Australia from reaching a mammoth first inning total. The whole country was banking on Ravichandran Ashwin after his heroics in Bengaluru Test, but it was Ravindra Jadeja who rose to the occasion.

On Tuesday, Kohli took to Twitter to heap praises on the all-rounder en-route to Dharamshala where the fourth test is going to be played.

Earlier on the same day, the all-rounder from Saurashtra leap-frogged his fellow spinner Ashwin for the top spot in the latest ICC Test Rankings, after having picked nine wickets on a batting track where the Australian spinners suffered at the hands of Pujara and co.

Kohli’s nickname given to the all-rounder suggests the importance of Jadeja in the Indian line-up. It was a remarkable show by Jadeja with some tireless bowling at Ranchi, bowling a total of almost 90 overs in the Test match which led to Kohli giving him the nickname “Bowling machine”.

From playing second fiddle to Ashwin, Jadeja has now gone on to become the No.1 in the world. Jadeja has cemented his place in the Kohli-led Indian team which banks on the all-rounders vital contributions.

The No.1 bowler would want to end the season on a high in the fourth and last Test of the series at Dharmasala.
