Heaping praise on India’s left arm-spinner Ravindra Jadeja, English all-rounder Ben Stokes said that he is the best bowler in the world. Stokes, who became the highest paid overseas cricketer in the IPL when he was snapped for a whopping 14.5 crores by the Rising Pune Supergiant at the auctions in February this year, conceded that Jadeja had a dream home season which is why he is currently the No. 1 ranked bowler in the latest ICC Test rankings.

Speaking to Times of India, Stokes said, “The rankings are there for a reason. They do tell the truth. You only get there if you are. His record of the Indian winter was exceptional. You can’t deny how well he has been bowling. So judging by that, he is the best bowler in the world at the moment.”

Known was his pinpoint accuracy, Jadeja picked up 26 wickets in England’s Test tour of India last year of which Stokes was also a part of. Stokes was dismissed twice by the left-arm spinner in that series and he said he wouldn’t fancy his chances against the wily spinner as he “bowls at a good pace and is very accurate”.

When Jadeja was handed a shock Test debut in 2012, not many envisaged that he will one day become the No. 1 ranked Test bowler. He has been exceptional with the ball bowling tirelessly in the longest format of the game. The Saurashtra lad has been giving fruitful contributions with the bat of late which is again invaluable for the team.

After a memorable series against Australia, where he picked up 25 wickets in 4 Tests, he dislodged fellow teammate; and spin-bowling partner – Ravi Ashwin, from the top of the ICC Test bowling rankings.

Jadeja was asked by the BCCI Medical team to take two weeks off to recover from a demanding home Test season, where he bowled like a ‘bowling machine’ and hence will miss the first quarter of the IPL. He represents last year’s table topper Gujarat Lions.
