There’s absolutely no doubt in the fact that South African wicketkeeper-batsman Quinton de Kock is amongst the most explosive batsmen doing the rounds in the cricketing world. In 146 T20s, the left-hander has notched 4201 runs at an average of 32.31. He is currently plying his trade for Cape Town Blitz in the inaugural edition of the Mzansi Super League (MSL).

He is presently the second-highest run-scorer of the T20 tournament having scored 219 runs from four matches at an average of 54.75 and a strike-rate of 188.79. Yesterday, he was at his bludgeoning best against Tshwane Spartans, captained by AB de Villiers, at SuperSport Park in Centurion. The Gauteng-born cricketer racked up 108 runs from 55 deliveries.

His knock was laced with 10 boundaries and five sixes. After the Spartans won the toss and elected to bowl first, de Kock ensured that the decision backfired on their opponent. He took the bowling to the cleaners and ensured that the Blitz racked 172 in their 20 overs. He opened the batting and played until the 19th over after which Rory Klienveldt got rid of him.

The knock turned out to be a match-winning one as the Blitz won by 60 runs and remained at the top of the points table. In the meantime, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), a franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL) got severely trolled after de Kock’s brilliance with the willow. Last year, RCB, led by Indian all-format skipper Virat Kohli, roped him in for INR 2.80 crore.

He didn’t score big, but chipped in with some useful scores at the top of the order. However, the 25-year-old was freed of his services by the franchise and he would now play for Mumbai Indians (MI), the three-time champions of the mega event. For the time being, Twitter can’t stop ridiculing the Challengers, one of the few teams which are yet to get their hands on the IPL trophy.
