RCB players take BMTC bus to promote public transport in their 'Go Green' campaign

It is not a surprise anymore to see Royal Challengers Bangalore ditching their red and orange jersey and show up once in the 14 matches in their fluorescent green jersey to promote the ‘Go Green’ campaign. The team has played some of the most memorable matches in the IPL wearing the green jersey.

Who can forget the Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers onslaught against the Gujarat Lions last year and posted a mammoth 248 of their 20 overs? AB De Villiers annihilated the Gujarat Lions’ attack as he scored 129 off 52 balls. Kohli supported the Protean with his hundred off 55 deliveries. The duo hit 20 sixes in the process.

Two years back, it was yet another fascinating rain curtailed fixture as RCB were allotted only 6 overs chase down a mammoth 83 and the home team did it in style with help of heroics from Virat Kohli and Chris Gayle.

However, in this year of the IPL, Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC), convinced RCB to travel in a BMTC bus to promote the usage of public transport which would reduce traffic and congestion in the busy Bengaluru roads and avoid pollution.

The RCB players gave up their luxury ride to take their seats in an AC bus of the BMTC, which was labelled with their logo and caption ‘play bold’. BMTC tweeted the picture of the ride which supposed to take the players stadium from the hotel. They tweeted by saying, ” So, what’s happening this afternoon in #Bengaluru?”

A few minutes later they tweeted again by saying,” @RCBTweets will ride a BMTC bus to Chinnaswamy Stadium today to promote public transport usage to reduce road congestion.”

Royal Challengers would look to salvage some pride of today’s encounter against the Kolkata Knight Riders. Royal Challengers are already out of contention for a spot in the playoffs. It is expected that the Bangalore-based side will end up in the last position of the league table.
