Chennai Super Kings pacer Mukesh Choudhary immediately apologised to Virat Kohli for hitting him while trying to fire one back into the stumps during the game against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Choudhary, who has been very impressive so far in IPL 2022, opens the bowling for CSK and has been economical as well on many occasions. The left-arm seamer has so far picked up 11 wickets in eight games after making his debut this season.

Coming back to the instance, Kohli took his stance a long way forward to cut the swing and he played the shot straight into the hands of the seamer. Kohli turned back to his crease with a dive after noticing Choudhary having a shy at the stumps and the ball had hit the back of the former Indian captain. However, Kohli had a smile on his face after the incident and showed that he was all okay with it.

Notably, Kohli has struggled to find the best of his forms in recent times and has managed just one fifty this season which is far lower than the usual standards he has set. However, skipper Faf du Plessis has backed him to come good soon and had even promoted him up to open the batting.

Meanwhile, Kohli was watchful against the new ball and just when he looked like getting a move on, the right-hander received a stunning delivery from Moeen Ali that turned sharply and went through his defences. The 33-year-old finished with 30 off 33 deliveries that included three fours and a six. He thus managed to get his side off to a good start.

After losing the toss, RCB posted a good total of 173 in their first innings. Skipper Du Plessis provided a blistering start with a 22-ball 38 while Mahipal Lomror (42) and Dinesh Karthik (26*) provided the finishing kick to the innings.
