In what is the final league match for both Royal Challengers Bangalore and Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2022, the former will look to win it by a huge margin in order to keep their playoffs hopes alive. Gujarat became the first team to qualify for the playoffs and are currently at the top position with 20 points. RCB have a negative net run rate, and thus apart from the victory, they will also have to hope for the other results to go their way.

RCB had momentum following back-to-back victories, but it faded after a humiliating 54-run loss to Punjab Kings in their most recent encounter. Virat Kohli’s poor form continued in the previous game, as he could score just 20 runs, but the scene is set for the former skipper to deliver a remarkable innings to turn both his and RCB’s fate in the right direction.

Captain Faf du Plessis, power-hitter Mahipal Lomror, and finisher Dinesh Karthik would all like to play a huge knock against GT after a dry run in their previous game. Glenn Maxwell and Rajat Patidar have got a fair amount of opportunities but haven’t been able to channel them into big numbers. RCB bowlers Harshal Patel and Wanindu Hasaranga have been outstanding.

The two have been giving out their best for the side, and have not conceded many runs in the past few games  and maintained consistency. RCB, on the other hand, would be anxious about Josh Hazlewood and Mohammed Siraj’s form, since they both leaked runs against Punjab. However, Du Plessis will be aiming for a comprehensive effort from his side in order to keep RCB in contention.

In this season, GT have been the team to beat. Even if they suffer a loss against RCB, Hardik Pandya’s team would still finish first, getting two opportunities to go to the final. The collective effort has been the key to GT’s success in their first season. The top and middle-order have given encouraging performances for GT’s batting unit. They have a dangerous bowling unit, too, that can create destruction on the field.

Pitch and conditions

The match will take place at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, which will assist the batters as it is a high-scoring venue. The recent game between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Mumbai Indians was a high-scoring thriller as the former put up a whopping 193 runs, and the latter fell short by just three runs.
