There is something inherently therapeutic about a full-blooded cover drive. It is almost nirvana for a cricket fan when he sees his favorite cricketer just leaning into the ball and gorgeously driving it through the covers and his subsequent pose after playing that sumptuous stroke.

You tend to identify batsman with their trademark strokes. For example, whenever you hear the word on-drive, the first image that pops into your mind is of Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar stroking bowlers down the ground with disdain. Similar is the case with the back-of-a-length pull. Immediately the images of Ricky Ponting or Rohit Sharma galore. And then there is the Virat Kohli cover drive. You can watch it on a loop over and over again.

‘Am Feeling it’ – Shahid Kapoor

The Indian captain had recently taken to Twitter of himself stroking those sumptuous cover-drives which he captioned as,  “A good cover drive is therapeutic.” And, now Shahid Kapoor has vindicated Kohli’s emotions by retweeting the photo and writing, “Am feeling it.”

For the uninitiated, Shahid Kapoor is currently honing his batting skills for his role of a cricketer in the Hindi remake of Telugu movie, Jersey. Speaking about his decision to take up Jersey, Shahid said as quoted by Hindustan Times, “ It took me some time to decide what to do next after Kabir Singh. But the minute I saw Jersey. I knew I wanted it to be my next. It is a wonderful, inspiring and personal human journey that I connected with deeply,”

Jersey is a story of how a father named Arjun, a failed-but-talented cricketer, decides to return to the field in a bid to resurrect his fledgling career and fulfill his long-standing desire of representing his country at the International stage and at the same time fulfill his son’s wish of an Indian jersey as a gift. The Telugu version was an instant hit, achieving whirlwind appreciation from fans as well as cricketers.

The movie will be directed by Gowtham Tinnanauri and the shooting of the film will start at the end of this month in Chandigarh and is slated to release on August 28, 2020.
