Rajasthan Royals, apart from preparing for the upcoming season, are looking for the people interested in buying the franchise stakes. Last week, a PTI report had confirmed the same and it was understood that some prominent names in the industry were interested. In the latest development, the star Bollywood seems to be adding the IPL with the Bachchan family showing a keen interest in the Royals.

According to the reports in the Times of India, Abhishek Bachchan, the star Bollywood actor who already owns a team in the Pro Kabbadi League (PKL) in India, met the franchise owner in London. “Yes, Abhishek (Bachchan) met Manoj Badale in London some time ago,” Ramesh Pulapaka, CEO of AB Corp said confirming the reports to some extent.

There are also reports of Bachchan approaching the Chennai Super Kings first and then turning to the Royals later when they decided to sell the stakes.

Goenka also interested?

Earlier, there were also reports that the owner of the now-defunct franchise Rising Pune Supergiant, Sanjeev Goenka is also interested in buying the major part of the Rajasthan Royals’ stakes. The possibility of happening the same can’t be denied as Goenka has always has expressed his interest in coming back into the mix.

“Mr Goenka has always been interested in coming back after he had a fairly good but short stint in the IPL. His team made it to the finals in one of the years. Let’s wait and watch how it all pans out,” the official had earlier said.

Meanwhile, the BCCI official close to the development has also confirmed that the Royals is interested in selling the stakes as nothing has been made official so far. “Yes, Rajasthan Royals are selling a major part of their stakes and the highest bidder will be getting it. What we have heard is that it is around fifty percent and some of the biggest business houses in the country are apparently interested in buying stakes,” the official had said.
