Soon after the conclusion of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), the Indian cricketers will get busy in their packed International schedule. While their first assignment is the historic Test match against Afghanistan, they will soon travel to England then to play a series across all the formats. The skipper Virat Kohli has already decided to skip the one-off Test which will commence on June 14. However, the key fast bowler Ishant Sharma is now in doubt for the game following an injury to him while playing in the County game.

He has been plying his trade in the County Championship in order to assimilate to the conditions in the UK ahead of India’s tour. The lanky fast bowler has performed decently so far in the three matches picking 8 wickets at an average of 29. He has even proved his worth with the bat as his highest score this season is 66. While he is still with Sussex, it is likely that the selectors wouldn’t want to risk his injury to aggravate.

Shoulder injury to Ishant

Ishant Sharma has injured his shoulder currently and missed the previous encounter of Sussex. According to the reports in Times Now, he might not be picked for the Test match against Afghanistan as the selectors will announce the squad for the same on Tuesday. The extent of his injury is not yet known but there is no clarity over his participation for the next game of Sussex as well.

Ishant’s fitness for the five-match Test series against England is of utmost importance given the fact that he has a good record in the country. Very few must have forgotten his fiery spell at Lord’s a few years ago when he had bounced the England players and had picked 7 wickets in the second innings to seal the memorable victory for Team India.
