Veteran all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez announced his retirement from international cricket in January this year, having represented Pakistan for 19 years. Despite bidding adieu to the game at the highest level, Hafeez continues to make himself available for selection in franchise cricket and is likely to participate in the Dhaka Premier League.

The 2022 edition of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) will be held from March 15 to April 28 with 11 teams participating in the tournament organized by the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB). While Hafeez will be a part of the competition, it remains to be seen whether he would make himself available for the entire duration.

According to reports in Cricket Pakistan, the 41-year-old will be heading to Bangladesh on March 15 for participating in the upcoming edition of the Dhaka Premier League. The reports further state that the former Pakistan skipper will be staying in the country for three weeks and will represent Mohammedan Cricket Club.

Hafeez was last seen in action during the PSL 2022 where he had played a key role in helping Lahore Qalandars bag their maiden title with his outstanding all-round performances in the final. While he played a match-winning knock with the bat, the veteran also starred with the ball in hand.

In fact, he was adjudged the Player of the Match as the Lahore Qalandars were crowned champions by 42 runs. After scoring a quickfire 69 runs off 46 deliveries including nine fours and a six, Hafeez continued his splendid run in the second innings as he finished with figures of 2/23 from his four overs at an economy of 5.8.

In his illustrious cricketing career, Hafeez has amassed 3,652, 6,614, and 2,514 runs in 55 Tests, 218 One Day Internationals and 119 T20Is respectively. He has also made an impact with his right-arm off-break by registering 53, 139, and 61 scalps in the respective formats.

The ‘Professor’ played his last international match against Australia in the semifinal of the T20 World Cup 2021.
