India is currently involved in a T20I series against Bangladesh. And, just after this, both the teams are scheduled to play two Tests. It will be a historic series from the perspective of both the teams because the final Test at Eden Gardens will be a Day-Night game. There were strong reports that the former Indian skipper MS Dhoni will do commentary in that match. But, now comes a piece of news that can break the hearts of several Indian cricket fans.

MS Dhoni, who bid adieu to Test cricket back in 2014 has not featured in a single game after the conclusion of the World Cup 2019. He is regarded as one of the best and influential captains that Indian cricket had ever produced in its history. The 38-year-old looked set to make his debut in commentary debut in the landmark game between India and Bangladesh, but it looks like there are certain roadblocks paved in his way.

An important update on MS Dhoni’s debut in the commentary

A close source to the player said, that there is no chance of Dhoni doing commentary, “There is no way Dhoni can commentate,” the source said as quoted by First Post.

It is reported that the host broadcaster Star Sports has sent a proposal to BCCI in order to ask the former Indian captains if it is possible for them to do commentating during the Day-Night game. But, they are still waiting for a reply from the board.

“Invite India Test captains for Day 1 & 2 of the Test. All captains at the ground along with Virat Kohli and the rest of the team as well as the dignitaries line up for the anthem. Captains appear on commentary as guests through the day to recollect their favourite moments from India’s Test history,” Star Sports proposal read.

For the historic game, Sourav Ganguly, the newly appointed BCCI chief, is not holding-on in terms of its preparations. He is taking every step in order to make the final Test of the series a memorable one and is planning to bring all the former Indian skippers to attend the match.

The Eden Gardens Test is scheduled to take place from 22nd of November.
