Being a son of a celebrity can be a little problematic at times. The media always keeps an eye on them and the public imposes undesired burdens on their shoulders. While some of them manage to handle pressure, many of them can’t survive the heat. Arjun Tendulkar is a newbie to the cricketing world, but, the fact that he is the son of the iconic Sachin Tendulkar makes him a prominent name.

Recently, he was selected in India’s U19 squad for their tour of Sri Lanka next month. The Colts will play a couple of four-day matches followed by five One Dayers. He has been selected in the four-dayers but wasn’t considered in the limited-overs fixtures as he won’t be eligible to play the next U19 World Cup in 2020. India won this year’s tournament under Prithvi Shaw’s captaincy.

Tough road ahead for Junior Tendulkar

Meanwhile, the tour is expected to be a stepping stone for the pugnacious potential to stake his claim in the Mumbai domestic team. The Ranji Trophy Pre-season camp took place and Arjun wasn’t called up as per reports in Times Now. Nevertheless, it doesn’t mean that he won’t be able to play the Ranji this season, but will miss out on the preparations with the senior members.

The 18-year old’s name has been doing the rounds for quite a while now. Last year, he bowled Johnny Bairstow in the nets of the Lord’s Cricket Ground. He honed in a searing Yorker, which smacked the English batsman on the toe following which Bairstow hobbled of the park.

Unlike his father, he isn’t a graceful batsman and chose fast bowling as his primary prowess. Last month he refurbished his skills in the National Cricket Academy in Dharamshala. He also was slated to grace his presence in the Mumbai T20 League but pulled himself out citing personal reasons.
