Reports of me wanting to issue a show-cause notice to Virat Kohli are not true: Sourav Ganguly

There were several reports doing the rounds that the President of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly wanted to issue a show-cause notice to Virat Kohli. This is regarding Kohli’s comments about the captaincy of the Indian side in limited-overs cricket, where he had made it clear that there was no proper communication between him and the BCCI.

Ganguly has now cleared the air and said that the reports of him wanting to issue a show-cause notice to the 33-year-old Kohli are not true. “Reports of me wanting to issue a show-cause notice to Virat Kohli are not true,” said Ganguly as quoted by News18.

In fact, reports stated that Ganguly wanted to issue the notice in December itself but held back as India were embarking on an away series to South Africa.

Sourav Ganguly had also taken to Twitter to laud Virat Kohli after he stepped down as the captain of the Indian Test side. Ganguly had tweeted that the Indian side had made rapid strides with Kohli at the helm of affairs, and also added that the BCCI respects his decision to step down.

The 49-year-old Ganguly had also tweeted that Kohli will still continue to be an important member of the Indian cricket team in the coming years as well.

“Under Virat’s leadership Indian cricket has made rapid strides in all formats of the game ..his decision is a personal one and BCCI respects it immensely ..he will be an important member to take this team to newer heights in the future. A great player. Well done,” tweeted Sourav Ganguly.

Virat Kohli will next be seen in action on the field on 23rd January 2022 in the 3rd ODI against the South African side at Cape Town. South Africa have already won the series, and are currently 2-0 up going into the final rubber.
