Rajeev Shukla, the chairman of IPL and a senior official in the BCCI said that the board will respect the decision taken by the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court today accepted major recommendations of the Lodha committee and has granted the BCCI a 6-month period to implement those.
”We respect SC’s decision. Will look into how we can implement the Lodha panel recommendations,” Shukla was quoted as saying by television channels.
One of the major recommendations was to include a bar on ministers and civil servants and those above 70 years of age from becoming its members but it had left it to the Parliament to make a decision on whether it should come under RTI.
Former cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi also tweeted praising the verdict of the Supreme Court. ”Let’s all accept Supreme Court’s verdict gracefully & humbly-after all isn’t health o Indn Crkt more imp than any personality pol/otherwise!” tweeted Bedi.

Bedi also went on to say that the SC verdict was much expected, ever since Justice Lodha panel was formed in January 2015 to determine the punishments for Raj Kundra, Gurunath Meiyappan, and their respective franchises; decide on Raman’s role in the IPL 2013 scandal and to suggest changes to BCCI’s functionality.

A bench of Chief Justice T S Thakur and Justice F M I Kalifulla also rejected BCCI’s objection against recommendations for one-state-one-vote and said that states like Maharashtra and Gujarat having more than one cricket associations will have voting rights on a rotational basis. The ruling will also affect the BCCI president Anurag Thakur who also heads the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA).
