Rishabh Pant will be sitting in India, miles away from England where 15 of his Indian teammates will fight it out for the World Cup. The youngster had suffered a heartbreaking snub from India’s 15-man World Cup squad. Pant had made it to India’s standby list but there was no room for him in the final. Speculations were rife that Pant would be the man to be named in the main squad after Kedar Jadhav sustained an injury during the IPL. However, the team has decided to retain Jadhav although the middle-order batsman is yet to recover fully from the shoulder injury.

Pant was very much in line to be picked up for the World Cup when he was named in the ODI squad for the home series against Australia. With that series being India’s last assignment before the tournament and Pant getting the nod ahead of Dinesh Karthik, it looked like the Delhi star would fly to England. However, the selectors decided to pick Karthik ahead of Pant due to the former’s experience.

Chief selector MSK Prasad had said that Pant was in line for the call but his inexperience cost him the World Cup spot. But Pant has now shown remarkable maturity to keep the heartbreaking snub behind and make it loud and clear that he would be cheering for Team India. On Tuesday, Pant took to Twitter to post a tweet with a message for Team India as they bid for a third World Cup trophy in England and Wales.

“Donning the blue for the nation is a feeling nothing else can even come close to Wishing Team India a killer run to the Bring it home boys !! Good luck,” Pant tweeted while posting a picture of himself wearing the blue jersey.

India back to winning ways:

Team India, meanwhile, beat Bangladesh by 95 runs in their second warm-up game to get back to winning ways and also register a much-needed win. Centuries from KL Rahul and MS Dhoni propelled India to a mammoth 359 for 7. In reply, Bangladesh were all out for 264.
