If reports are to be believed, Indian batting sensation Rishabh Pant, who has been knocking at the selector’s doors for a while now, might be able to earn his ODI cap in the third one-dayer against West Indies in Antigua. Virat Kohli has already hinted about a change in the lineup after they leave shores of Trinidad and Tobago.

Pant has already been given a taste of international cricket in the final T20 against England during the start of the year. The young batting sensation from Roorkee also impressed in the IPL following a splendid domestic season where he toppled all records and registered the quickest ton in history (48 balls).

His onslaughts along with Sanju Samson against Gujarat Lions is still fondly remembered by many who followed the IPL this season. With Yuvraj Singh‘s lackluster performance in the series so far with scores of 4 and 14, and MS Dhoni dispensing his knowledge to Rishabh Pant ahead of the match, it is not a rocket science to expect the southpaw in the playing XI of the squad.

“We’ll sit down and decide as a team about changes that can be made (when asked about Pant). We’ll go to Antigua and regroup, and that’s a possibility as well, give a few guys an opportunity,” said Kohli after India’s win against the West Indies in the second one-dayer. Rahul Dravid too has been vocal about a need for change in the lineup with Yuvraj and Dhoni at the twilight of their respective career.

“It is a call that is got to be taken by the selectors and the management. And what they see as the road map for Indian cricket, and where they see the role of both these cricketers going ahead for the next couple of years. Is there a place for both of them? Is there a place for only one of them?” explained Rahul Dravid post-India’s loss to Pakistan in the finals of Champions Trophy.
