Rishabh Pant to rejoin Daredevils squad on Friday

One of the most promising stars emerging from the Indian Cricket structure, Rishabh Pant is set to join then Delhi Daredevils camp on Friday night despite the unfortunate demise of his father. According to reports, Rishabh Pant’s father passed away in his sleep after suffering from a heart attack.

The talented left-hander was sent back home to Roorkee on Friday to complete the last rituals of his father alongside his mother and sister.

One of the Delhi Daredevil officials disclosed that it is a difficult period for the young player and there is no rush applied on him to resume urgently. “It’s a time that he needs to be with the family. He can take his time and join the team when he feels like,” said the anonymous source.

However, Rishab Pant is expected to put on a brave face on and resume his training ahead of their opening fixture against Royal Challenger Bangalore on Saturday. With this act of his, Pant will be compared to the likes of Virat Kohli and Sachin Tendulkar who resumed their duties in spite of the unfortunate incident.

Virat was supposed to bat in a Ranji game before the sad news of his father’s demise was broken to him. He resumed his innings after performing the last ritual ceremony shortly. Similarly, in the 1998 World Cup, Sachin rushed back to Mumbai from London to perform the last rites. He shortly joined his team and scored an enthralling century against Kenya

Pant amassed as many as 972 runs in the 2016-17 season by scoring 4 centuries and 2 half-centuries with a best score of 308. He also toppled all records by scoring the fastest century in 48 balls against Jharkhand this year. Rishabh Pant is one of the most sought after batsman this year in the IPL. Hopefully, with able guidance from Dravid and Zaheer Khan, Rishab Pant will emerge from this gloomy situation and deliver the goods for Delhi Daredevils
