The wait is finally over, and India’s hitman Rohit Sharma has landed on Australian soil. India’s ace opener Sharma will undergo mandatory quarantine of 14 days before joining the Test squad to play up for the last two games. He missed the entire white ball series with India owing to certain fitness issues. Despite moving to Australia after the conclusion of IPL 2020, he moved to NCA Bangalore to level up his fitness.

His journey to Australia was under a lot of questions as it was said that he might not play the entire series either. However, BCCI updated in between and stated that his travel arrangements are being made and Sharma would ply his trade in the last 2 Tests. The 33-year-old informed fans about his travel plans and reaching of Australia through his Instagram story.

Rohit Sharma cannot be part of first two Tests

Now even if Rohit Sharma has landed on Australian soil, he won’t be available for the selection of the first two Tests owing to strict quarantine rules related to COVID-19. Mandatory quarantine of 14 days is a must for a player to join the squad, and Sharma’s isolation period will get over after the first two Test games. The first two Tests are scheduled during December 17-26.

Talking about Rohit’s journey in IPL 2020, he wasn’t at his sheer best while plying his trade for Mumbai Indians. He had to even miss some matches owing to a hamstring injury, but he came back in full form for the finals against Delhi Capitals. He again led his team like a King and played a match-winning knock to get his team over the line. Mumbai Indians won the IPL trophy for the record fifth time to etch their name on the golden pages of IPL’s history.

Talking about Rohit’s role in the Test matches, it will be too essential for him to gear up well, especially in absence of Virat Kohli. Since Kohli won’t be available for the three Tests, Sharma will be expected to become the flag bearer of India’s batting set up.
