Rohit Sharma is likely to be left out of the playing XI for India’s 3rd match of the Asia Cup T20 against Sri Lanka. Reports suggest that Rohit Sharma has suffered a bruised toe in the match against Pakistan while facing the fiery Mohammad Amir. The story was further backed up when the 28-year old opener missed the two and a half hour practice session at the Sher-e-Bangla stadium.
Rohit Sharma’s opening partner Shikhar Dhawan attended the training session as he looks likely to be picked for the following match. Dhawan had been rested for the Pakistan and had been replaced by Ajinkya Rahane. Given the current circumstances, it seems as though Ajinkya Rahane will partner Shikhar Dhawan in the opening slot for the following match.
Parthiv Patel also got through an early net session before Virat Kohli and Suresh Raina had their extensive stint at the nets. However, any qualms about selection for Parthiv Patel had been quenched as MS Dhoni took to the nets for an extended net session. It was indeed heartening to see MS Dhoni take to the nets following reports about his back spasms.
The Indians carried on their merry way as they scythed through arch-rivals Pakistan in the previous match of the Asia Cup. The Indian bowlers stole the show as they bowled out the opposition for 83. In reply, the Indian batsmen realized how difficult it was to bat on the Dhaka wicket as they were sent back to the dugout with monotonous regularity. Mohammad Amir made sure that his presence was felt as he created all sorts of problems for the Indians. However, a master-class from Virat Kohli ensured that the Indians reached the target.
