Rohit Sharma vows that his team will make a strong comeback next season

Defending Champions Mumbai Indians, led by Rohit Sharma, are out of this edition of the IPL after losing their last match of the league stages against Gujarat Lions on Saturday. After the Mumbai Indians posted 172/8 being put into bat, the Gujarat Lions chased down the runs in the 18th over, losing only four wickets in the process.

He thanked their fans for all the support and said that each and every single person had tried their best and gave everything they had, but unfortunately ended up on the losing side. Rohit who achieved the feat of captaining them as many as in 50 matches in the history of IPL, assured that his side will come back strongly next season.

Their overseas pacer Mitchell McClenaghan finished the tournament with 17 wickets in 14 matches and ended the league round as the third-highest wicket-taker in IPL 2016. Jasprit Bumrah, the right-handed pacer who has been a part of the Indian cricket team, ended the tournament with 15 wickets in 14 matches.

Mumbai Indians have won 7 out of their 14 matches but that wasn’t enough to make their way into the playoffs. One more win would have made it for the defending champions. They are placed 5th in the points table, with the top 4 teams qualifying for the playoffs.

Along with Mumbai Indians, Zaheer Khan led Delhi Daredevils (DD), MS Dhoni’s Rising Pune Supergiants (RPS) and Murali Vijay led Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) went out of the tournament with positions 5, 6, 7 and 8 respectively.
