The famous and big name in film industry Ronnie Screwvala is all set to make a movie on blind cricket team of India. Cricket is the sport which is immensely followed in India and already so many films have been made on different sports. Recently, the release date of the film on India’s historic World Cup victory in 1983 led by Kapil Dev was also announced. However, the movie on blind cricket is a unique concept and surely the fans would be excited to watch it in the theatres.

Blind cricket is a version of the sport of cricket adapted for blind and partially sighted players. India are reigning World Champions in this form of cricket as well. The film is expected to be a sports drama and about a character who never ceases to believe in himself and follows his dreams despite the challenges he faces in life. Team India is run by Cricket Association for Blind in India (CABI) and is also one of the 10 members of World Blind Cricket Council.

CABI delighted with the initiative

G.K.Mahantesh, the President of CABI is delighted that a film is being made on the sport and hoped that it would make blind cricket popular among the people. “My greatest thanks to RSVP and Ronnie Screwvala for taking the initiative in making a movie on blind cricket which is inspired by true events. I immensely appreciate the effort and I am positive that this film will help make blind cricket more popular among masses,” he said in a statement as quoted by Zee News India.

Ronnie Screwvala believed that it will be an inspirational story and that is what Bollywood needs right now. “We are world champions in cricket for the visually impaired. Very proud moment. Our story is with this backdrop and based on multiple true events of this sport. We need inspirational stories in our movies and role models in real life and I believe this narrative will do that and more and yet entertain and enthral us at the core,” he added.
