The last year’s finalists Royal Challengers Bangalore did not have a good start to the tenth season of the Indian Premier League as they have managed to win only one game out of the four they have played. They were handed a major boost ahead of their last game as their original skipper Virat Kohli made his comeback into the side.

Virat who had picked up a shoulder injury in the third test of the recently concluded Border-Gavaskar Trophy was back in form in style as he struck a brilliant 62 runs of 47 deliveries but unfortunately, could not help his team emerge victorious in the end.

The RCB batting faltered badly batting first and failed to put up a decent enough total. Their bowling which has been their weaker point in most of the seasons was also not up to the mark apart from Samuel Badree who picked up four wickets in the match including a hattrick.

However, skipper Virat Kohli believes it would take a lot of character to make it to the top four from here and is also confident of achieving the same.

“Last year I was fit and fine but we still lost three out of the first four and we had to fight back. I think we are at our best when we have to fight back against the odds and we’re placed in a similar situation now and it’ll take some character to bounce back and pull things up,” he said on the team website after the match.

It was obviously a hard loss to digest for the 28-year-old but he was all praise for his bowlers and gave the Mumbai Indians credit for their hard-fought victory.

“Obviously when you lose that kind of a game it hurts. It’s a game of small margins and we could have had a few plays go our way right in the end as well. Credit to the guys, the way we fought in the first six was tremendous. Samuel Badree was outstanding, picking up four wickets and ended up on the losing side. Credit to Mumbai Indians, they strung an important partnership,” he added.
