Rajasthan Royals and Kolkata Knight Riders would like to get back to the winning track as they take on each other in Match 30 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. The encounter takes place at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai on Monday (April 18). Both sides have had pretty similar campaigns in this tournament so far as they started off strongly but seem to have lost momentum lately.

While RR are coming off a thumping 37-run defeat against Gujarat Titans, the Knight Riders faced big defeats in their last couple of fixtures. Hence, both sides will have a point to prove in this game. Speaking of KKR, they made a strong statement with three wins in their first four games. However, there are some significant issues in the top order and the same has troubled them in recent fixtures.

The likes of Venkatesh Iyer, skipper Shreyas Iyer and Nitish Rana have fired in installments and need to delivery more consistently. Meanwhile, the lower order has done well with dashers Pat Cummins and Andre Russell making substantial contributions. As far as the bowlers are concerned, Umesh Yadav seems to have lost his sheen after spitting venom with the ball in initial games. Spinners Varun Chakaravarthy and Sunil Narine have also blown hot and cold.

Coming to the inaugural-season champions, Rajasthan Royals have arguably the most-balanced squad this season with notable players in all three departments. However, they have been struggling to get a potent fifth-bowling option. This issue was even more transparent in the last game against GT as Trent Boult missed the game due to a niggle.

However, the Men in Pink shouldn’t stress out much as two of the finest spinners going around, Ravichandran Ashwin and Yuzvendra Chahal, are serving them. While Jos Buttler has been the side’s stand-out batter, the likes of Devdutt Padikkal and skipper Sanju Samson have blown hot and cold. Hence, RR must address these issues to overcome their woes.

Pitch and Conditions

The track at the Brabourne Stadium seems to be a batter’s paradise as many high-scoring contests have been witnessed at this venue. As the dew factor can’t be overseen, the trend of captains winning the toss and opting to bowl first will continue.

Playing Combinations of RR vs KKR

Rajasthan Royals

As Trent Boult is likely to be available for this fixture, there would be some changes in the line-up. Although his countryman James Neesham replaced the pacer in the last game, under-fire Rassie van der Dussen might make way for him this time around. Kuldeep Sen might also be dropped after delivering an expensive spell against GT. If it happens, Yashasvi Jaiswal or Karun Nair would be included.

Predicted XI: Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal/Karun Nair, Devdutt Padikkal, Sanju Samson (c & wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Riyan Parag, James Neesham, Ravichandran Ashwin, Trent Boult, Prasidh Krishna, Yuzvendra Chahal

Kolkata Knight Riders

Although KKR lost their last two games, they are unlikely to make any changes. Aaron Finch and Aman Hakim Khan couldn’t do much in their maiden assignment this season. However, the two-time champions must give the duo few more chances before making the changes.

Predicted XI: Aaron Finch, Venkatesh Iyer, Shreyas Iyer (c), Nitish Rana, Andre Russell, Sheldon Jackson (wk), Pat Cummins, Sunil Narine, Umesh Yadav, Aman Hakim Khan, Varun Chakaravarthy
