Bangladesh fast bowler Rubel Hossain is excited to learn the techniques of death bowling Lasith Malinga in the ongoing season of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL). Both the players are playing for Rangpur Riders franchise in the T20 tournament. Malinga is one of the best bowlers in the world when it comes to the shortest format of the game. However, Rubel is the fan of his bowling and appreciates him for his talent.

Hossain had a wonderful game against Dhaka Dynamites as he picked two crucial wickets of Mehedi Maruf and Shahid Afridi. His variations while bowling earned him those wickets and returned with the figures of 2/29. His teammate Malinga also was back at his best in the death overs as Riders snatched a win from the jaws of defeat. They defended a middling score of 142 and bundled their opposition out for 139.

His death bowling charms me

Rubel Hossain conceded that he is the fan of the Sri Lankan veteran Malinga and cleared that he was eager to learn from him during his stint in the BPL. “Everyone knows about Malinga’s performance. His death bowling charms me. I’m always eager to learn from him and now I’m trying to learn how he deliver such Yorkers in last overs. I’m also practicing in nets,” he said as quoted by bdcrictime.

He also explained a few techniques which he has picked up from him and hoped that he might be able to do the same in the near future. “Malinga grips the ball a bit differently in slowers. I’m working on that. After some day, I’ll try that grip by myself. He does not use one of his fingers that he uses in all stock deliveries. I’ve tried that but have faced some difficulties. But I believe I can learn that with much trials,” he added.
