Young Pakistani pace bowler Rumman Raees is keen on showing his skills in the English County cricket. The English domestic season always invites and offers players from other countries to be a part of their home season. These players, signed as overseas members, often benefit a great deal from their stint in the County Championship. Raees is soon planning to be a part of the same.
His teammate in the national side, Mohammad Amir, has had great success in the English season this year. Mohammad Amir had an impressive time with the Essex team this year. As per the reports in Geo.tv, Rumman Raees has already received an offer from Durham team to play in the English season. “I have an offer from Durham county,” quoted Rumman Raees.
He further added that he wishes to be a part of the roster next year for sure. Elucidating his point, Raees mentioned that the aim of the national side is to win the ICC World Cup 2019. Hence, practicing in the English condition is ideally the best thing that the players can ask for. “It will be a good way to get accustomed to playing in English conditions. Our goal is to win the 2019 World Cup, and we have already been focusing on it,” said Raees.
On his aspirations
Speaking on the broader terms, Raees wants to be remembered as a great cricketer. He noted that he liked it a lot when former Indian skipper Kapil Dev had lauded his efforts in the Champions Trophy semi-finals earlier this year. Raees had replaced Mohammad Amir in the match against England and bowled a decent fiery spell upfront.
“I want to play so well that the world remembers me, my country remembers me. I want to give my best for Pakistan and make my country proud,” he conceded.
