A handful of cricketers, in the history of Associate cricket, have made a name for themselves in the cricket world- Ryan ten Doeschate is one of them. The Netherlands all-rounder has not only been a stalwart for the Dutch team but also in the county circuit while playing for Essex. His skilful repertoire has also earned him spots in T20 franchises across the globe.

Having last played for Netherlands way back in 2011 during the Cricket World Cup, he hadn’t found a place in the national team. However, after seven long years, he finally has been selected to play for Netherlands, in a couple of ICC World Cricket League games. The matches will be played in Dubai on December 6 and 8 against Namibia.

Ryan Campbell, the current Netherlands coach, expressed his jubilation to the media on Doeschate’s return. “Getting a player of Ryan’s talent and experience is a massive gain for us. What he brings to the squad is more than just runs, wickets and brilliant fielding. He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge in big matches,” Campbell said.

The former Australian cricketer also hailed ten Doeschate’s performance for Essex in county cricket. “As captain of Essex he has just led them to the Division One Championship. Our youngsters will gain knowledge that you just can’t buy off a shelf. We are on the brink of something special but we will need cool, calm heads to see us through, I have no doubt Ryan will bring that,” he added.

Effortlessly Netherland’s best

Since making his debut, he has racked up 1541 runs in 33 games for the Dutch team at a whopping average of 67. He also has played an integral part in Essex’s victorious campaign in the County championship this season. With the veteran back in the side, Netherlands will be looking forward to make some fruitful outings in international cricket.
