Former Indian international S Sreesanth, who remained in the spotlight last month with his barrage of tweets against the Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI), continued to remain in the headlines with his recent allegations on the cricket board and former Delhi Commissioner Neeraj Kumar.

During his interrogation for the alleged involvement in spot-fixing during one of the matches of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2013, Sreesanth was taken into custody by Delhi Police where he met the commissioner who forced him to confess his involvement with bookies and spot-fixing.

Therefore, in order to intimidate the Kerela pacer, Neeraj Kumar apparently claimed that some of the BCCI officials begged the Commissioner to not persuade the infamous Match-Fixing scandal of 2000, involving the likes of Hansie Cronje and Mohammad Azharuddin, as it would tarnish the image of cricket and few top cricketer.

“BCCI officals begged Neeraj Kumar to not pursue further into the 2000 match-fixing claims and take the names of Indian players involved in the case. Neeraj Sharma came into a settlement with the BCCI officials to shut down the 2000 Match-fixing scandal. Neeraj even said ‘I saved their a** they should be really thankful to me’ while playing the good cop,” revealed S Sreesanth in a no-holds-barred interview with Republic channel.

Presence of few administrators in BCCI, hindering Sreesanth’s comeback

Sreesanth then lashed out on Delhi commissioner Neeraj Sharma while calling him out, enlisting few important details. “If you have so many proofs then please show them to the world. A guy who just retired became the chief of anti-tolerance, the anti-corruption unit who proclaims that there is no fixing happening now in IPL. Perhaps betting might be happening now, but how can it happen without the knowledge of players, franchise owners and administrators of a multi-billion dollar league,” further added the two-time World Cup winning Indian player.

Furthermore, the former Rajasthan Royals bowler expressed that the presence of 3 or 4 administrators within the board has hindered his comeback into competitive cricket even after sanctioned out clean by the judiciary.

“BCCI did not lift my life ban due to the presence of 3-4 officials inside the organization. Because of the spot-fixing allegations, the Lodha Committee recommendations and the CoA took centre stage in BCCI. As a result, top administrators lost their job,” continued Sreesanth.
