After a dominating performance against South Africa, India now lead the three-match Test series by 1-0. The Virat Kohli-led side were as clinical as they could be, and beat the hosts by 113 runs to win the Centurion Test. It is to be noted that the visitors won the Test with over one and a half sessions to spare.

Following the stupendous win, former off-spinner Sarandeep Singh was pretty confident about them winning the series comprehensively. As a matter of fact, he went on to predict the margin of India’s series win as well. Moreover, the veteran felt that the batting unit of the Proteas seemed weak and thus, couldn’t see the hosts winning.

“Yes, we can see this Indian team winning the Test series 3-0 because South Africa’s batting is not looking that great. Only Dean Elgar, Aiden Markram and Quinton de Kock can chip in but if all the pressure is on these three then the team can’t win because Indian bowling is very strong.

“It is due to rain that the match got over on the fifth day otherwise you will see matches getting over in 3 or 4 days,” Sarandeep Singh was quoted as quoted by NDTV Sports.

It is very difficult to beat South Africa in their country: Sarandeep Singh

Singh, also a former selector, went on to praise captain Virat Kohli for the way the latter handled his bowlers. He even called Mohammed Siraj a “surprise package”. While congratulating the head coach Rahul Dravid on his first win as a coach in the rainbow nation, he did acknowledge the fact that beating the Proteas in their den isn’t easy.

“Yes, it is big news. I think this is the first Asian team to win in Centurion. A big congratulations to Rahul Dravid on his first win as coach in SA. It is very difficult to beat SA in their country. It is a huge moment for the Indian cricket team. The way Virat Kohli handled the side and the way our fast bowlers bowled especially Mohammed Shami.

“Jasprit Bumrah got an ankle injury but he came back and bowled well and surprise package Mohammed Siraj. We all talk about batters but look at our fast bowlers. It was a combined effort by the Indian team,” he said.

It is safe to say that KL Rahul and Mohammed Shami were the stars of the match. While the opener scored an amazing hundred on day one, the pacer picked eight wickets in the contest. In the meantime, the home team is expected to work on their shortcomings, and be at their best during the second Test at the Wanderers.
