A lot of emphasis is being placed on the ‘Clean India’ mission and legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar became one of the latest voices to throw light on the subject. He endorsed the idea and advised people on keeping our surroundings clean in order to attain a healthy environment.

Accompanied by his son Arjun Tendulkar, Yuva Sena chief Aditya Thackeray and Rahul Kanal from the ‘I Love Mumbai’ NGO, Sachin Tendulkar spread the message of cleanliness by sweeping the streets of suburban Bandra, early morning on Tuesday. They extended their support towards the Central Government’s ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign.

Speaking On The Subject

The ‘Master Blaster’ as he is popularly known as pleaded the citizens to not indulge in littering and indeed make use of the dustbins to keep the city clean.

“The garbage is dumped here and there while there are dustbins. I would request everyone not to litter and please do not deface the city,” he said. Sachin also tweeted on the initiative and invited the people to participate in the campaign.

“We each have to do our bit to keep #IndiaClean. So, pick a group of friends, a street, and together let’s #CleanUp India. #SwachhataHiSeva,” Tendulkar tweeted after taking part in the campaign.

He further said that it hurts him to watch the beauty of mother earth being falsified due to all the dirt and unclean surroundings. He appealed to the people to join the mission.

“We don’t litter in our homes but do it outside. We call the earth as our mother. But this (littering) is something which I don’t like. I want to request the people to become a part of the ‘Swachh Bharat’ mission,” he said.

All the fans on social media appreciated the master for spreading awareness. Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded his effort on the cleanliness drive.
