Sachin Tendulkar visits guru Ramakant Achrekar on Guru Purnima: Today, on the auspicious occasion of Guru Purnima, Sachin Tendulkar visited his Guru and Coach Ramakant Achrekar to seek his blessings in Mumbai. For decades, Sachin Tendulkar has made it a point to visit his guru on this auspicious day if he is in the country and to give him a phone call if abroad.

Ramakant Achrekar is the great man who first spotted and then heated Tendulkar to gold right from his school days and has contributed immensely in the growth and development of the so-called God of cricket.

Guru Purnima is an Indian and Nepalese festival dedicated to spiritual and academic teachers. This festival is traditionally celebrated by Hindus, Jains and Buddhists, to pay their respects to their teachers and express gratitude towards all those who have had influential teachings in an individuals life.

The festival is celebrated on the full moon day (Purnima) in the Nepali (Hindu) month of Ashadha (June–July) of the Shaka Samvat, which is the Nepali calendar known as Hindu calendar in Nepal and India. The celebration is marked by ritualistic respect to the guru, Guru Puja. The Guru Principle is said to be a thousand times more active on the day of Guru Purnima than on any other day.

Although, Sachin Tendulkar holds almost every record which is there in the cricket book but the paramount success and glory has hardly fazed the person in him otherwise after reaching such astounding heights of accomplishments, many few bother and respect their teachers and coaches as such. In a way, it justifies the love and adulation which this man enjoys in the hearts of billions of people across the globe.

Sachin Tendulkar had retired in November 2013 after featuring in 200 Test matches and 463 ODI’s is the only man on the planet to have hammered 100 International centuries, a record which may last for many decades as well.
