Indian Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar may have retired from all forms of cricket, but it is impossible to take the game out of him. On India’s World Cup 2011 hero, Zaheer Khan’s birthday, the legend conveyed his wishes to the left-arm speedster through his twitter account.

Since retiring from cricket in November 2013, the 43-year-old has continued his association with the game- whether it was being the mascot of the cricket World Cup 2015, or turning up at stadiums to watch his former IPL team Mumbai Indians in action or even through his frequent Twitter posts on regular events in the game.

While he is busy as the owner of Kerala Blasters in the ongoing Indian Super League, he didn’t forget to convey his well wishes to Zaheer Khan- “The man who bowled over our hearts with his talent and humility.”

The recently retired now 38-year-old Indian quick had an illustrious career, in which he reached many heights, the sweetest of them being the leading wicket taker in India’s World Cup glory at home in 2011.

Zak also picked up the 4th most wickets for India in the test format (311 scalps) as well as the ODI format (269 wickets), being the best pacer in terms of international wickets taken.

Having announced his retirement last year, Zak last featured for India in January 2014 in New Zealand, where he wrapped up his test career with a fifer, although the match ended in a bitter draw. He then captained Delhi Daredevils in the recent IPL season in 2016, which was the last we would see of him in action.

Sachin Tendulkar was quick to acknowledge the contributions and praise one of the best fast bowlers India has ever produced on his special day. Zaheer remains one of the most versatile and skillful bowlers who was compatible in all formats.
