Australian captain Steve Smith was pretty disappointed with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) for uploading the video of the conversation between Ravindra Jadeja and Matthew Wade on the 3rd day of the 4th and the final Test in Dharamsala. There was a prolonged chat between Jadeja and Wade while the former was batting. Wade was constantly trying to sledge the Saurashtra lad with his verbal volleys behind the stumps.
The BCCI media team uploaded the video where the whole scenario was clearly depicted. On Monday while India was batting Wade started the banter with his constant comments. “Gary (Nathan Lyon’s nickname) you are the best in all conditions. You are not a one trick pony’,” Wade’s remarks were caught on the stump microphone.
In fact, one of the onfield umpires Marais Erasmus went up to Wade and asked “Wade will you stop or not.” Wade didn’t stop and kept on chirping asking Jadeja to upload a selfie on Instagram while wielding the sword. Captain Smith conceded that he was disappointed with BCCI uploading the video as the scenario involved both the teams and it was not only the wicket-keeper who was at fault.
“Yeah, I was a little bit disappointed that you know the BCCI sifts through archives to find a conversation in the field that was happening between Matty (Wade) and Jadeja. You know I think it has happened between both sides throughout the series, so the fact that they have done that to us is pretty disappointing,” Smith told the reporters during the post-match press conference.
“What’s said on the field should stay on the field. Guys are going to say things here and there. Emotions will be high in such a series. Yes, I was a little bit disappointed that the BCCI did bring that up,” Smith further added. When Jadeja was enquired about what happened between him and Wade during the post-match conference, the southpaw said he told Wade that once the match ends and Australia loses, he will take him out for dinner.
