Sakshi Dhoni missing her favorite team Chennai Super Kings

While her husband is busy in the IPL playing for Rising Pune Supergiant, Sakshi Dhoni is missing the yellow jersey. The wife of India’s and IPL’s most successful captain shared a picture on one of the social networking sites wearing a Chennai Super Kings helmet, a yellow tee and captioned it as ‘throwback’.

CSK was of course suspended due to corruption charges, as the Supreme Court found out that one of their owners were involved in betting. Dhoni led the franchise for 8 straight seasons since its inception in 2008. It was the most successful team as they managed to reach in 6 finals in 8 seasons.

CSK remains the only team in the IPL to have won the title in consecutive years, which they did in 2010 and 2011. They lost the other four finals to Rajasthan Royals in 2008, Kolkata Knight Riders in 2012, and twice to Mumbai Indians in 2013 and 2015.

CSK also was the most successful team in the now defunct Champions League tournament. They won the title twice, once in 2010 and again in 2014 – which was the last tournament. The unique aspect of the franchise was that they backed the set of players who performed well for them in the beginning and procured them again at the 2011 auctions. Dhoni was always the appointed leader and with his charismatic approach, led the team exceptionally well.

Dhoni now is playing his first season in the IPL as a non-captain. Pune Supergiant made a big decision of axing him as captain in the lead up to IPL-10. Steven Smith is the newly appointed leader and Dhoni reportedly has offered him full support.

CSK might make a comeback to the IPL next season and it will be interesting to see if Dhoni will be roped in again in the franchise. Till then, though, Dhoni will be looking to give his best for his current franchise: Rising Pune Supergiant.
