Sandeep Lamichhane to represent Nepal In CPL 2018 draft

In what is one of the most celebrated cricket tournament for the people from Carribean Islands, the Carribean Premier League (CPL) is back with its sixth edition to commence from August 8. The tournament also marks the beginning of the domestic season for the hosts as players from different countries gear up to take part in Windies’ premier T-20 domestic tournament. There’s no denying the fact that the players from these Carribean Islands with the likes of Chris Gayle, DJ Bravo, Sunil Narine, Andre Russel and many more, form an integral part of the various T-20 cash-rich leagues that take place in different countries.
A total of six franchise will be taking part in this year’s edition as Trinbago Knight Riders, one of the most successful teams in the history of the league will look to defend their title. Before the commencement of the next edition of the league, the auction for the coveted tournament is scheduled to take place at London on March 1 with some exciting young names that have been included in the draft.
Nepali player included in the draft
In what promises to be yet another exciting season in the reckoning, a bunch of 227 players have been drafted for this year’s auction as all the six franchise will look to add stability to their side with much firepower in their armory. According to the CPL official website, with 53 players, Pakistan has the highest number of representation in the draft followed by 23 from Sri Lanka. A considerable amount of players have been drafted from other test playing nations such as England, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, Bangladesh, Zimbabwe and Ireland.
But the highlight of the draft has been the inclusion of Sandeep Lamichanne, a young leg spinner from Nepal who came into limelight ever since he was bought by Delhi Daredevils for a bid of INR 20 lakhs to be the first Nepali player to be drafted into any IPL auction. This has done a loads of good to the young leg spinner enabling him to gather interests from the other T-20 leagues. Sandeeep has even helped his cause much due to his recent exploits in the ICC WCL division-2 tournament that prove enough for him to force some of the franchises to look into some of the raw young talent that is gradually moving up the ranks is some of the Associate nations such as Nepal, Oman, America, Hong Kong, Scotland, UAE and Kenya.
